What you need

• A familiar, safe potted plant
• A small water container
• A cloth

Let's play

1. Look at the leaves and soil. A grown-up decides whether watering is needed.
2. Show how to pour a small amount of water.
3. Notice the soil, wipe spills and talk about the activity.

Adjust together

Help hold the container first; compare soil before and after later.

For grown-ups

Use a plant without thorns or poisonous parts. Do not taste leaves or soil. Wash hands and wipe slippery spills.
